Transcript

Under the direction of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, this training is provided for fathers, mothers, families, individuals, and their Church leaders. The resource consists of nine brief presentations, each focused on a different aspect of strengthening the family and the Church through the priesthood. Stake and ward councils are invited to watch all the presentations and then counsel together about where and when to use them. Bishop, we have a youth discussion coming up in a couple of weeks. It would be nice to see it in Relief Society. Why not a fifth Sunday? Yeah, I agree. Where the bishop and/or his counselors bring out certain segments. Then we don't have to see the whole thing. If we made this a home teacher message, imagine the discussion that would take place in that family. And then maybe offer a challenge along with that so that there's an action. These are such short segments, you can pick just what one topic that we need, you know? I think that the segments that are shown really touch every circumstance. Really, whether it's a single sister, a widow. We can use these videos as springboards to help people understand this is the priesthood, this is when it's working in your life, this is the Spirit and what it feels like. And they can instigate such great discussion. Online presentations are available on DVD and on LDS.org. To access the training, go to the Resource tab and click on Leadership and Teaching to go to the Church's Leadership Training Library. There you'll find presentations on strengthening the family and the Church through the priesthood. Other related materials, including discussion guides and handbook references, are available on the site for additional training and support. These films are intended not just to be viewed but also discussed. As you use the training at home and at church, always provide opportunities for members to share what they are learning--their spiritual impressions, insights, and personal examples. I think it's great because it kind of shows how the priesthood's supposed to be Christ-centered. I mean, we can talk about the stake level, but we've got to get this filtered down to the individuals. As members participate in discussion, the Holy Ghost will teach them how they can be strengthened by the power of the priesthood in their own roles and responsibilities. Husbands and wives will be united. Fathers and mothers will provide greater spiritual leadership to their families. Youth will be prepared to make and keep sacred covenants and serve the Lord as full-time missionaries and throughout their lives. Single members will be supported, receive the blessings of the priesthood in their homes, and be fully engaged in building the kingdom. Quorums and councils will work together to minister to Heavenly Father's children. And the Church will be strengthened. We invite you to join Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Presidency of the Seventy, and Bishop Gary E. Stevenson, Presiding Bishop of the Church, who have been asked to introduce and conduct this training.
