My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness. We are the Lord's hands here upon the earth, with a mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us.

Brother. Hi, [INAUDIBLE]. How are you doing? Doing good. Thanks for letting us come [INAUDIBLE] tonight. You're welcome. I love you, you know that, your family. You guys are great. [INAUDIBLE], he knows these people. He loves these people. He's been in their homes. He knows their names. And that is a huge door opener. It's an opportunity maker. He's paid a price across years to invest in them. [INAUDIBLE] you know, and I know you, that you have a lot to offer people. Because you're a great man, and we your help. The Lord needs you. I've learned that as you visit, it's important to just get to know them. So how many years ago were you sealed? To ask them just a few questions and listen carefully to not just what they say but how they say it. I'm not sure. It's been about 25 years. Wow, so you've been members for a long time. We've been in the Church for maybe 32 or 33 years. We were baptized in Venezuela. That's wonderful. Do you believe in God? I do believe in God. Good. And in Jesus Christ? Yes. That's terrific. Your parents taught you that. The blessing of discernment that's given to people who are out trying to do the Lord's work is that you will be guided as to what to say and what to do. This doesn't come usually with extravagant feelings, and you don't hear voices. You just get a little thought in your mind. Can we just read that together? Would you turn to the second to the last paragraph, which says, "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God the Eternal Father in the name of Christ if the book is true." I know the Book of Mormon is true. I've done just what that says. I've read it and studied and prayed about it. And I know the Book of Mormon is true.

So are you attending church? Well, not the way we're supposed to. You mean not the way you used to. Right.

If there are parts of their family situation or their personal lives that could be improved, as we gain trust and build that relationship with them, we invite them to make certain changes. Well, we love you. We want you to come back. Come and share your testimonies. Come and participate. Most importantly, we want to be able to have the Spirit here in your home. We feel a strong spirit here with you tonight. [INAUDIBLE], how do you feel about your family? I love them. How do you think they'd feel if you read the Book of Mormon and started praying about it? [INAUDIBLE] wasn't surprised, I don't think, that we were going to ask him to do something. We had to ask him to participate and push him a little bit to invite him to read the Book of Mormon, invite him to pray. And then that prayer that he offered was just beautiful. [INAUDIBLE] Heavenly Father, we bow our heads this evening, seeking for the truth.

At this moment I'm asking if this is a true testimony of your Son. We ask these things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen. Amen. [INAUDIBLE], that was a really beautiful prayer. Thanks. It really was. Christ did not just speak about love. He showed it each day of His life. He not only taught but showed us how to succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees. Christ knows how to minister to others perfectly. If we are His hands, should we not do the same? Each time we go out to meet a family, we go bearing the holy priesthood in the name of the Lord. We go out as ambassadors of the Savior Jesus Christ. And He works through us. Whoso receiveth you, there I will be also. For I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels roundabout you to bear you up. Those promises bring such peace to someone who's going to go out and visit. We don't have to be perfect. We don't have to know everything. We just do the best we can in the name of the Lord, and He gives us the power that we need. It felt like the Lord reached out and touched me tonight. Their visit was an answer to my prayers.

When I have no doubts, I know that the priesthood is real. I have a deep love to go about the people, to share my testimony of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know God lives. I know that we can hear His voice as He helps us understand how to minister to people, how to care for them and love them. I love this work. I love to just be out and bear witness, to serve others, to share my own witness. Through the blessings of the Atonement, every human being can be lifted and blessed and strengthened with the ordinances of the priesthood and the ordinances of the temple. Salvation can be made available to every living soul. I know it's true. And I share that in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Ministering

Description
A Christlike expression of priesthood service is ministering—loving, serving, teaching, and lifting others as the Savior would.
