The Lord wants us to achieve the work of salvation, which is the same as it is through the whole world, to bring his sons and daughters back to him through the Atonement of his son, Jesus Christ. Every soul is precious to our Heavenly Father. And the gospel of Jesus Christ is quite simply about people, about helping them to progress, and about helping them to return and live with their Heavenly Father again. As we labor in the work of salvation, we try to help everyone. Investigators need the gospel. New members need help to remain strong. Less active members need someone to rekindle the fire of their faith. And active members need continual spiritual nourishment. There is much to be done. It takes everyone to move the work forward. We're all aiding in bringing souls to Christ and helping them. As we work together in our Wards, the missionaries will help us accomplish the work. The missionaries are in our Wards. The Preach My Gospel says we can use them for the work of salvation under the direction of the Bishop. Yes, missionaries can help in many ways. For example, some of you might want to know more about your ancestors. Ask the missionaries. They can help you. Some of you are members, but not presently participating. I suggest that you ask the missionaries. They can help you. They can also help by teaching your loved ones. The Ward mission leader coordinates our united efforts as members and missionaries. He is the connecting link between us. He helps leaders and members connect the missionaries into all their efforts to bring others to Christ. The Ward mission leader isn't just looking out for the investigators. He's looking out over the less actives, the recent converts, and he's helping us in all aspects of the work. As we remember that the work of salvation is one great whole, missionary work, retention, activation temple and family history work, and teaching the gospel, the work will flourish. There's not different works that we're involved in. There's one work that we're involved in. It's the work of salvation, the finding, the teaching, the retention, the reactivation. These are all together elements of what we are involved in as members of the Church, as leaders of the Church, to achieve the purposes of our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. As we work together in the work of salvation, we remember that the purposes of God are simple. This is my work and my glory, he said, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. It fills me with wonder and awe to think that the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. God himself said, we are the reason He created the universe. His work and glory, the purpose of this magnificent universe, is to save and exalt mankind.
