OK, let's see. If you take a peek at this outline, you'll see this first little part where we talk about-- Two through five, there was a proclamation made. There began to be peace for the sons of Mosiah, the good buddies. What does this tell you about friends sometimes that leads you down? They seek to destroy the Church. I want to break up into groups so that we can kind of explore this chapter maybe in a new way that we haven't done previously.

You'll see these little notes up here. I'm going to break you up. Group 1, I'm going to call the proclamation group. In this first little bit, you'll notice that there was a proclamation given. What kind of proclamation in our day--how is it different or similar to the one given here? We're going to do this in about five minutes, come back, and I'll have you guys tell me about it, OK? OK. Group 2, angel's message. I want to know what the main points of this angel's message were. What part do you like? Underline that part. Be ready to share it. Group 3, I'm going to call this the repentance terms and phrases. Let's see, Lindsay, Marie, you guys game for this? Go through. He's got some very distinct terms and phrases that he uses to describe his repentance process. If you guys would write those down. I want you to compare Alma. What was he like before? What was he like after his conversion? How is he different? I know you guys feel left out. But, you're going to write down the principles. So am I just writing what they're writing? No, because you'll be-- If they don't mention them, you and I will kind of go through those. [CHATTERING]

Laboring with our own hands, learn how to work. And then the priest and teachers labored with the people; they didn't just boss them around. And then at the beginning of verse 6, the first thing it says: "And there began to be much peace again in the land." So obviously, the proclamation was a good thing. --not those who just oppose it. And that's in 13. Yeah. It's basically saying that those who were members of the Church and then seek to destroy the Church are the ones that will have the most success at destroying the Church, rather than the ones that are just outside and have never believed in it. Any others? And then, why do you think your parents pray for you? What would their prayers be for you today? Anything? Any of those that would strike you as a great repentance type of verse? In those groups what was your favorite? I like this one: "I behold the marvelous light of God." Yeah. They probably broke plenty of laws if you didn't listen to the commandments of the ruler. Yeah.

Yeah. He was good at talking, flattering people. He brought knowledge of the Redeemer, and he published peace. But who else saw angels that really never came back to the Church? Who was it? The witnesses. OK, there are some witnesses. I'm thinking of some earlier folks in the Book of Mormon, even. Laman and Lemuel. Oh, Laman and Lemuel. Praise God. [MUMBLES]

These people all saw angels. Did they turn around? No. No. They didn't. They were all given the same opportunity. There will come a time where you have to kind of discover this for yourselves. It's like gaining a knowledge. It's the "aha" moment when you finally gain your own testimony. Yes. You're not relying on-- When does that happen? It depends. It's different for everyone. OK. How, though? Did you have to work hard at it or did it just click? Verse 25. Read it. "And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again." So at some point, even though you've been baptized at the age of eight, you will have those moments. But if you are not seeking for them, will you have them? No. No. You know somebody that had kind of that--maybe it was a member of the Church and came back--in your lives. Any thoughts?

Marie? Yeah, my dad did. When we lived down in Glenwood, down here, he was a strong member. He went to church every Sunday and everything, did all of his callings. And then when we moved up on the mountain, it was hard to get down. And he just kind of slipped away. He started chewing and started not going to church anymore. And then when I was like four or five, I think, my mom told him that we needed to start going again because that's where she wanted me and Michael to be raised. She wanted us to be in the Church. And now he goes every Sunday, and we can't skip unless we're on our deathbed. I think there are many members waiting for us to bring them back. In this ward, how many inactive members do we have, did we figure? [CHATTERING] Do you think that there's something that we could do? Marie's mom did it. Do you doubt that Lisa didn't sit there and go, "Please, Heavenly Father," a few times, "let these children's father come back"? Scan through verses 32 through 37. Let's have Ren write on here a couple of things that demonstrated Alma had actually changed. If you could just take one today--just one--one of these qualities that he had. And today, I want you to think about how you can publish peace--home, . . . You guys all have siblings today to contend with.

Publishing peace might be a good way to practice it. I want to do this. And then tomorrow, I want to hear your experience of how you had a moment to publish peace.
