Hi, I'm Angel. And this is how Deseret Industries changed my life. Growing up, my parents were never around. I lived with a couple of different families and never had any stability. I mean, how many people can say that they've been in 11 different elementary schools? Because of that, my interest in school and parental guidance was nonexistent. I struggled through life to find employment, to keep employment. I just struggled. One time I was really down on my luck. I was about to be evicted, and I didn't know what to do. My boyfriend at the time suggested that I talk to my bishop. I didn't know what a bishop was. I was not a member of the LDS faith. But I went, and the bishop suggested that I enroll in the Deseret Industries job program. I worked there for a short time, and then my life and my perspective began to change. The career workshop was one of the most beneficial parts of the program for me, especially the part about job interviews. Literally the day after the career workshop ended, I interviewed for a position and was hired. I gained the confidence I lacked. And now I'm no longer a nervous wreck during job interviews. I was in a really dark place in life when I was introduced to Deseret Industries. And now I have the skills necessary to find success. I mean, I'm only 23; I've got time. Words fail to express the depth of my gratitude for Deseret Industries. In a way, their reaching out saved me and gave me a brighter future.
