Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

What does it mean to be a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ? Disciples live so that the characteristics of Christ are woven into the fiber of their beings, as into a spiritual tapestry. Every tapestry starts with only one thread. And after, it's magic because with a thread, another color, another color, you have a story. The attributes of the Savior, as we perceive them, are not a script to be followed or a list to be checked off. They are interwoven characteristics, added one to another, which develop in us in interactive ways. In other words, we cannot obtain one Christlike characteristic without also obtaining and influencing others. We can start to be like Christ by trying to implement or to develop Christlike attributes. My faith has grown throughout the experiences of my life and through prayers, through living, living the gospel and seeing how it's benefited my life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Faith comes because you have this desire to learn, study, be closer to Christ, and really get to know Him better. As one characteristic becomes strong, so do many more. Listen to Peter's invitation to become a disciple of the Savior: "Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; ... to virtue knowledge; "... To knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; "And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity." As you can see, weaving the spiritual tapestry of personal discipleship requires more than a single thread. If you have just one thread, it's very long to do. If you put one, two, three, four, or six threads, you'll go quickly because you have many strong, small threads, so you can go faster. And you can mix the colors too. The constellation of characteristics that result from faith in Christ are all necessary to our standing strong in these last days. We keep the commandments and do the things that we're asked to do. It builds a beautiful tapestry. This is only possible if every day I make the right choice. I testify that everyone can be a disciple of the Savior. Discipleship is not constrained by age, gender, ethnic origin, or calling. We're all called to be disciples of our Savior. Now is the time to recommit ourselves to being His disciples with all diligence. Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. He was always doing miracles. We might not be able to have so many miracles in our lives, but we might be able to be a miracle in someone else's life.
