You and I probably don't wake up in the morning thinking about, oh, I hope I'm safe today. Refugees do. If a person who were interested in going overseas to volunteer were to ask me where overseas to go, I would probably tell them that they could start right here in their own backyard. The needs of refugees who come to Utah are, they need a place to live. They need assistance in getting food and understanding the new culture and how to navigate their new community. They need help getting a job. They need help learning the language. They need help understanding the culture.

The biggest impact a volunteer can have on a refugee is by being the person's friend.
