[PIANO PLAYING] [GUITAR PLAYING] (SINGING) Well, the night won't wait for no one, like its sky's so blue.
And I wouldn't wait for no one like I'd wait for you. And the stars, they don't dance for no one like they do their moon.
And I wouldn't dance with no one till I danced with you. And that's how I know it's you. And that's how I know it's you. And the sides on your hands tell a lie. And the sides on your hands left their mark on my spine, and it's fooling me.
Oh, the stairs to your place, like a mountain, with the air up so high, feels so thin. So I climb up those stairs like a mountain, over and over and over and over again.
Over and over and over and over again. And that's how I know it's you. And that's how I know it's you. Oh, the mat on your porch tells a lie. Oh, the mat on your porch is an ironic sign, and that's clear to me.
Oh, the world spins around now without you, quietly, through its space.
That was Aspartame Sunshine. You're watching Mormon Channel Studio, and I'm your host, Nik Day. That was great. Do you guys want to introduce yourselves? Sure. My name's Austi, and I'm on guitar and vocals. And I'm Emily, and I'm on keyboards and vocals. Great. And you guys have been performing together for a while, is that correct? We have, about two years. Two years. How did you guys meet each other? Good old house party. [LAUGHTER] Some mutual friends were throwing a big get-together. Emily was sitting at the piano, and I just kind of creeped in on it and just kind of watched because everyone was playing different music, and it was just kind of a fun night. [LAUGHTER] So I moved up to Salt Lake and I didn't know anyone. I wanted to jam, so I was like, "Anybody? Do you want to jam?" And I heard that Austi plays guitar and writes songs and sings, so we got together and it just worked out. It was fun. We went with it. Great. And can you guys talk about the song that you just sang? What inspired you to write it? So I started writing this song about six years ago, and it kind of hit some writer's block, and so I put it down. And I had started to write it about one topic, and anyway, the night before Emily and I got together to jam the first time, I sat down and I said, "I want to finish this stinking song." And it wrote itself in about five minutes flat. And so when we got together to play for the first time-- When we got together, I was like, "Do you have a song that has one chord? Because I can do different stuff with it." And she's like, "Actually, I just finished one last night." "I just finished one last night." So anyway, this song is kind of about the idea of that moment when you feel like, when something clicks, it's like--that's how I know it's you. It's that moment, and I feel like we kind of had that. And so we started a band. Awesome. And what was the name of the song? "South Dakota." "South Dakota." Great. And you guys are going to do another song for us, is that right? We are. Which one is it? "Our Savior's Love." And why did you decide to do that song? I was sitting in church a couple of weeks ago, and they sang this song, and it was one of those moments where you just kind of feel, like, extra touched. So I wrote it down and I said, "Go home and study this because there's something in there you need." So I went home and I didn't do that, but we got invited to do this, and that song came to mind. So I gave it to Emily, along with a few other options, and she's like, "That one." And so we hadn't talked about that. And anyway, they ended up playing it again in church this last Sunday. And that's kind of rare to repeat that soon, but I just felt like--I think both of us just kind of felt like there was something in this song that we needed. Yeah, we really liked the words, and the melody is gorgeous. Right. Well, we're excited to hear it. Take it away. Thank you.
Our Savior's love Shines like the sun with perfect light, As from above It breaks thru clouds of strife.
Lighting our way, It leads us back into his sight, Where we may stay To share eternal life.
The Spirit, voice Of goodness, whispers to our hearts A better choice Than evil's anguished cries. Loud may the sound Of hope ring till all doubt departs, And we are bound To him by loving ties.
Our Father, God Of all creation, hear us pray In rev'rence, awed By thy Son's sacrifice.
Praises we sing. We love thy law; we will obey.
Our heav'nly King, To thee our hearts rejoice.
