[MUSIC - SCOTT FOSTER, "ERASE ME"] (SINGING) Darkness is slowly surrounding.

Vision gets [INAUDIBLE] as you walk away.

Silence is so loud it deafens.

And I feel your absence as the scent of you fades.

[VOCALIZING]

Idle waiting isn't going to change a thing at all, But I'm still waiting.

I can wrap my heart around the fact that you are gone, But I'm still here.

Empty, but I can still taste it. I've tried to erase your--memories stay.

Drowning in half-empty glasses, Time, it just passes, but not fast enough.

Idle waiting isn't going to change a thing at all, But I'm still waiting.

I can wrap my heart around the fact that you are gone, But I'm still here.

All would be well with me if I could simply erase it.

So beautiful. Welcome to Mormon Channel Studio. I'm your host today, Amber Lynn, and we have Scott Foster here with us today. Hello, always good to see you. How are you doing, Amber? I'm so good. OK, so tell us about that song. That was called "Erase Me," correct? The song's called "Erase Me," yeah. I wrote that song when I was living in a little cabin on the beach of the Bering Sea--summer gold mining operation--and feeling very lonely and desolate at the time. In that song I tried to capture that feeling of when you've lost something or someone that you know is not going to return to you. When I perform it now, it really hits home. I just lost my mom to cancer over the summer. This song is a way for me to kind of cope with that and to make clarity of things. That's beautiful, and that's so great because you can tell when you sing it, it's just a very emotional song. So I appreciate being able to witness that. You have another song for us today? I do. OK, so tell us about the next song you've chosen. So this next one is one of my favorite hymns. It's called "As Now We Take the Sacrament." So I like this song--first of all, I like the lyrics and the meaning. But I also have just always been taken aback by the chord progression and the melody. The way the harmonies work with each other, I just find really, really sweeping and beautiful. Spoken like a true musician. All right, well, let's hear it. Here we go.

[MUSIC - SCOTT FOSTER, "AS NOW WE TAKE THE SACRAMENT"]

As now we take the sacrament, Our thoughts are turned to thee, Thou Son of God, who lived for us, Then died on Cavalry.

We contemplate thy lasting grace, Thy boundless charity; For us the gift of life was giv'n For all eternity.
