Transcript

A unique and historic collection of discourses offered by Latter-day Saint women hit the bookstore shelves in late February. At the Pulpit is a volume published by the LDS Church Historian's Press. The book holds 54 discourses of women from 1831 to 2016. The collection also offers the historical context of the times in which the talks were offered and serves as a complement to LDS study as well as academic inquiry of the role of women in the Church. Readers of this volume will be inspired by the way women have captured their beliefs and their understanding of Latter-day Saint doctrine. Whether that be at the pulpit in a formal setting, whether that be at a Relief Society meeting in a discussion setting, whether that be in a newspaper article published in the Woman's Exponent, women had the opportunity to address other women and to address the larger population.
