One of the saddest circumstances is when an innocent person is grievously injured, greatly pained, and terribly depressed from the conduct of another person. Someone they love is doing something that gives them great pain. Or someone they love has done something to them that directly inflicts them.

It's all part of mortality. It's all part of the mortal experience. We cannot say that "the Lord must not love me because I am experiencing this kind of pain." It may, indeed, be an expression of trust and confidence from our Heavenly Father, that to put them in a position where someone He loves is inflicting pain on them, because they are strong enough to handle it and help the person that is paining them. I'm always distressed when I hear that someone who is innocent feels the Lord doesn't love them because they are suffering from the transgression of others. It is one of the common conditions of mortality, and it's the kind of thing that we all regret. But it's the kind of thing the Lord has prepared us to experience and to stand up under, because the Atonement of Jesus Christ reaches beyond suffering for our sins. It reaches to His experiencing of all of our afflictions so that He can succor us and raise us above the pain and depression and suffering and even the temptations that we are experiencing.
