[MUSIC - OSKAR AND JULIA, "WHATCHA GONNA DO NOW?"]

[SINGING] Don't waste your time. You're running circles like you're racing your mind. Just leave it all behind. You'll thank me later when you know you've survived. Tell me whatcha gonna do now? You're down and out, so get your head off the ground. Tell me whatcha gonna do now? I'm tired of losing my voice.

Open your eyes so you can see the sun, And oh, let it shine. Oh, beauty sight. For once in your life, you're going do yourself right. Tell me whatcha gonna do now? You're down and out, so get your head off the ground. Tell me whatcha gonna do now? I'm tired of losing my voice.

You are watching Mormon Channel Studio. My name is Yahosh Bonner, and you have just listened to the band Oskar and Julia. Oskar, Julia, Boston, thank you so much for being here today. Thank you so much for having us. You guys are amazing! Thank you! Could you tell us just a little bit about that song that you sang? Was it an original? Yes, it is. Where did it start? We actually wrote all of our songs on our album when we were living in L.A. in our apartment building called the Wilshire Royale. And that was one of the first songs that we wrote in that apartment building. And it's just about positivity, you know? If you're getting your head in the ground, like the lyric says, you're not opening up your mind to how much God's done for you and how much you should be grateful for. So go on a walk, take a walk, and feel better about things, pretty much. That's great. I love that. I haven't heard something like that in a while. It's new. It's fresh and super clean. Now, you two are married, right? Yes. OK. Did you fall in love over music, or ... ? Yes, very much so. Tell us a little bit about that. Well, yeah, I think we were just a little lost before we met each other. And once we did find each other, we connected on not only a musical level but on a personal level. We really just connected, and we felt the harmony within our relationship as friends. At that time it was purely friendship. And then she started throwing harmonies on songs that I would write, and then we would work on songs that she would write. It's just ridiculous how well it worked. And once you find something that works so well, you don't let that go.

There was a lot of opposition through our just kind of journey through our music and just being friends, but we really stuck it out, and it's really worked out for us. The chemistry is amazing. And Boston, you add so much. How did you guys get this guy? So actually, Boston and Oskar have known each other since fifth grade. They were best friends 11 years now. Yeah. They were in a band together, also, when they were in seventh grade. We were called Brought to Reality. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So this kind of seems natural. Do you feel like the odd man out sometimes? Oh, no. We're family, absolutely. They often say that they adopted me and I'm their kid. But you know, it's true. We have amazing chemistry, the three of us. They basically have a baby, and then they kind of hand it to me, and I'll swaddle it, I'll feed it and just add a little bit to it. And so it works really well. It adds some funk in there. Yes. Great. Great. He's also a brilliant guitar player, and he's going to be playing guitar for the next song that we play, which is "O Holy Night." Oh, yes! All right. And this is your original version of that song? Yeah. We just put our own little spin on it. There's only so many original versions of that song you can do. I mean, it's the best we can do for it. So, "O Holy Night," Oskar and Julia. Yep.

Take it away.

[MUSIC - OSKAR AND JULIA, "O HOLY NIGHT"] [SINGING] O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of our dear Savior's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born; O night divine, O night divine.
