[MUSIC PLAYING] Do you remember the biblical story of the woman who suffered for 12 years with a debilitating problem? She exercised great faith in the Savior, exclaiming, "If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole." Who touched my clothes? Many of us have cried out from the depths of our hearts a variation of this woman's words: "If I could spiritually stretch enough to draw the Savior's power into my life, I would know how to handle my heart-wrenching situation. I would know what to do. And I would have the power to do it." Sometimes you've got to really reach. And when you're experiencing trials, sometimes that's not something that you feel inclined to do. But you've got to do it. You're essentially throwing away a safety net in your own choices. You're letting go of the trust that you have in yourself and what maybe your mind tells you to do, and rather, you're putting it all in Heavenly Father's hands. But honestly, for me, those are the safest hands that I could possibly put my faith into. These turbulent times were foreseen by the Savior. Yet our Heavenly Father never intended that we would deal with the maze of personal problems and social issues on our own.

God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son to help us.

And His Son, Jesus Christ, gave His life for us. All so that we could have access to godly power--power sufficient to deal with the burdens, obstacles, and temptations of our day. It gives us the impetus to keep going forward and moving forward, knowing that we're not in this life all by ourselves, that we have that help with us every day. If I want to be able to grow spiritually, I've got to do things that are spiritual in nature. I've got to learn how to reach out to Heavenly Father and connect with Him. We begin by learning about Him. As we invest time in learning about the Savior and His atoning sacrifice, we choose to have faith in Him. The Lord directs my life through a lot of personal revelation. And I get that often through reading the scriptures and prayer, often. Those two are pretty much my lifeline, especially being by myself. They help me to understand what I need to do next. Faith in Jesus Christ propels us to do things we otherwise would not do. Faith that motivates us to action gives us more access to His power. I knew if I could just touch thy clothes, that I would be whole.

Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. This faithful, focused woman needed to stretch as far as she could to access His power.

When you spiritually stretch beyond anything you have ever done before, you will be led by the Holy Ghost to know exactly what you should do.

Reach Up to Him in Faith

Description
President Russell M. Nelson teaches that just as the woman who was healed by touching the robe of Jesus, we can receive strength and direction by reaching out to Him as well.
