As you can see behind me, the Salt Lake Temple is under construction. And as you can see from other shots we took earlier today, the foundation is being uncovered. There is an effort to prepare this temple for another 200 years. This foundation is important because just the other day here in Salt Lake City we had some small earthquakes. These are natural things. And when we think that there could be earthquakes, we have to prepare the foundation of the Salt Lake Temple. Having a sure foundation has its meaning for us who believe in Christ as well. We all know this scripture. It's one of all of our favorites, but I'll read it to us. "Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, ... when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless woe, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

In writing chapter 8, which speaks about the life of the Savior, I had a very interesting situation. I had completed the writing of all the chapters. It had even been sent in to the publisher. And yet, suddenly, in my prayers and in my thoughts I had a feeling: "I need to look at this chapter again. Something is not right." So I took another 8 to 10 hours to look at every paragraph, to rewrite so much of chapter 8. And I felt, in some small way, the Savior was saying to me, "Neil, please make this chapter a very good description of My life, My sacrifice." I hope it is acceptable to Him, because I know He lives. I know He speaks to His prophets today. And I promise you that this foundation can be yours, and I so declare it in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Building a Sure Foundation on Jesus Christ
