This week in Bible stories you may have learned about how our Heavenly Father wants us to keep our bodies clean and holy like a temple.
So I thought it would be fun to draw some things that we can do to take care of our bodies. We can do things like play sports or do physical activity to keep our bodies strong. We need to keep our bodies clean. Reading and writing can help our minds learn and grow. Eating good foods can be very beneficial for our bodies. And also music. Singing, especially in church, can really help us grow closer to the Savior.
I'm really excited to draw this stuff with you. Let's get going.
So let's start drawing these different images. Make sure you leave enough space on your page for all the different things that we're going to have on here. I'm going to start by drawing the musical note,
and I'm going to go somewhere in the left top part of my page to draw mine. You can put yours wherever you like.
These are going to be separate images, but we do want to have enough space for all of them. So I'm going to draw a circle here for my note.
And then some notes have lines that go up from them, some go down.
I'm going to do one that goes up, just goes straight up towards the top of my page.
And we can put a little wavy line on there.
And so it's kind of like a flag. We can put another, start another one down here and then just go to the tip of our other one right there. And then just for fun, just to show how much we love music, I want to put a little smiley face on this, this musical note. And to do that, I'm just going to do two little rainbows on both sides of the note. And then put a cute little smiley face right there in the middle.
Almost looks like a little wavy line going on there. So that's our musical note, which represents music. And music is really good for uplifting our souls and for our bodies.
The next thing I'm going to draw is I'm going to draw a soccer ball. And this soccer ball is going to represent sports and keeping our bodies in shape. So I’m going to draw a big circle here for our ball,
just like that. And there’s all kinds of soccer balls out there, I've seen lots of different patterns, but they usually have some octagons or or hexagons, I’m not sure which, on on there, or maybe both. And, but I’m going to do some circles on this one. So to start, I'm going to do one circle in the middle.
And I'm doing this because I think this is a fun way to draw soccer balls a little more easily. And then we can do ovals all around the outside of it in different directions. So if it's on this side of the soccer ball, I'm just going to put the oval up against my circle going that direction.
And then I can do the same,
you can see how the shape of the ovals changes as it goes around the ball. So I'm going to do another one right here.
Until I have a bunch of ovals there. And a lot of soccer balls they are black and white, so I’m just going to fill these in with black
while have this marker. Or you could color them in blue
or whatever color you like and you could color them in later when we do most of the rest of our coloring.
But I'm just going to do that right now so that you can see how this looks like a soccer ball. And I think that helps because if they're not black,
you might think it's a golf ball, which is also a sport and is also fun.
But I wanted to do a soccer ball.
You could do a different type of ball, if you like,
because there are lots of different types of sports and there's lots of different types of ways that we can take care of our bodies and exercise our bodies, whether it's biking or swimming or just running and playing with our friends.
And then you can see I just put this grass under here to.
Now, the next thing I want to draw is we need to nourish our bodies with with food and things to eat because they help us to be strong. And if we don't do these things for our bodies, then it can be hard to share the gospel and and do other things that we enjoy. So I'm going to draw a carrot today, and it's going to be kind of like a long triangle. And carrots are never perfect, they’re sometimes warped in different ways. So I'm going to draw the top of my carrot right here. I'm just going to draw kind of a curved line just like that. And then I want the end of my carrot to be somewhere down here I think. So I'm just going to put a dot down here on the bottom of my page where I want my carrot to go to.
And again, you can purposely make this line kind of a little bit wobbly.
Or a lot of times because, it’s really hard to just draw a straight line without a ruler, it might just end up being that way anyway. And it can be just fun to see how your carrot turns out and every carrot is going to look different.
So right there you can see that I have my other line for my carrot.
And then out of the top of the carrot, I'm just going to put some lines kind of like maybe fireworks shooting up
out of the top of the carrot right there.
And on that, I'm just going to add some leaves. So I'm going to kind of go a little ways up one of these lines, and I’m just going to start doing some curvy U’s or rainbows.
Make like a little bushy top on top of that carrot.
And to make it look more like a carrot,
carrots have these lines that go in them that go across the sides of the carrot. And you can just put some of these lines in here.
Just like that. All right, so that's our carrot.
The next thing I want to draw is I want to draw a bar of soap because it's important for us to clean our bodies. We brush our teeth, we take baths.
We want to keep ourselves clean so that we can stay healthy.
And so I'm going to draw this bar of soap. And this is going to be a little bit tricky because it makes things look in perspective or three dimensional. So I'm going to start by just drawing one line straight down.
And now I want to do the same thing over here at the other side of my
soap.
But I want to go a little higher up. So if you do a straight line across an imaginary one with your pen and then go up a little bit and start right there,
and then just draw another line just like the other one you have right there.
Now, this can sometimes help if we draw some dots here. So I’m going to go from here and I’m just going to go a little bit over, I don’t want to go half way or all the way, I’m just going to go a little bit over,
and then go down a little bit and just put a dot right there.
And this can be fun. This can be tricky to see if we can do this.
We don't know how it'll come out, but we're going to do our very best, right? So right here, I'm going to start from the top of this line. I'm going to go up a little bit and over and again, I’m not going to go halfway or most of the way, I’m just going to go up and over just a little bit, and I’m going to put a dot right there. And this is going to help us to draw our line so we can create like a dot to dot right here. And so I'm just going to start from the end of this bottom one and create like an upside down pyramid, but a skewed pyramid.
Go to that dot and then go all the way over to my other line
just like that. And then do the same thing at the top. I’m going to go here,
and then I’m going to come across right her. So you can see how that is kind of creating kind of like this
three dimensional shape right here.
But to make it look even more like that,
we want to have we have these two lines right here. We could do another one that just comes right up from the middle and make it just as long as these other ones. But it’s not going to go up as high as this one, it’s going to stay down lower.
We do that in the middle, and then we’re going to do one from here over to here. And these lines don’t have to touch, or you can make them so that they connect. And then do one more across starting from here all the way over to there. So you've got three of them in there. Kind of tricky, huh? That can be fun. And yours doesn't have to look like mine.
Soap can be in all kinds of shapes, sometimes it’s been used a lot, and so it looks kind of warped and funny and stuff like that. So whatever you have,
you can just go with it and have fun with it. And I want to add some bubbles to this too,
to make it look really soapy and lathery. So I’m going to do some rainbows here. To do that I'm just going to do some half circles these these rainbows here.
And these are going to be the bubbles that are around the soap.
And you could do as many of them as you like.
If you want to do some full bubbles floating up in the air above it, you can. Maybe we could do some little bubbles floating up.
And to make them look kind of reflective or like bubbles, we can put little circles on the sides of them right here, up at the top. Just do some little circles in there.
You can see how that looks like the bright reflection
that you see on bubbles. All right, so that’s our soap.
The last thing I want to draw is I want to draw a pencil. And I think a pencil would be good because there's a lot of things that we can do that are healthy for our minds and our bodies,
like drawing pictures, like we’re doing here, or writing in our journals or learning. So that's why I'd like to do a pencil. And so I want to do kind of an angled pencil, so it’ll look just like my pen right here, angled this way. And I’m going to draw two lines in that direction, so I’m going to do one.
And however far up I go, I'm going to come down here and do another one underneath it to the same place right there.
And then I can do a curved line to connect them on the top.
And that can be where my eraser is going to be.
And so go a little ways down, however thick you want your eraser to be,
maybe you’ve used it all up, or maybe it’s a brand new pencil, and do the same thing and just do another curved line inside of there. And maybe do two of them, and that can be the metal part that holds the eraser on.
And then down on the bottom of the pencil, I'm going to connect it.
You could put where however long you want your pencil to be, this is going to be the end of my pencil right there.
And then I'm just going to connect these just like this.
And if you want to make it a little bit more black on the end there, you can.
And then I'm going to do one more of these curved lines, just like this one, right here where my triangle meets the edges of the pencil just like that. And then we can put some lines, extra lines in here if we want to. Or sometimes, or maybe you have a round pencil. Either one works, you can do yours however you like. And then I want to draw a little line and maybe we'll do that later because you could do a red pencil if you wanted to and you could draw
a red line. But I'm going to just go from the end of the pencil
and you could maybe have it draw in a different picture, or you could just have it drawing a squiggly line or something, however you like, I’d love to see what you do.
Maybe you could show me something you like to draw with your pencil. You could have a lot of fun with this.
So you can pick whatever colors you would like to to color these images.
I think I’m going to pick this greenish blue color to color my note. And while we’re coloring these,
we can think about how these different things can bless our bodies or help us to be healthy. So we can think about how music can lift our souls. It can make us feel happy. It's really good for our brains.
Music can be a really beneficial thing. That’s why we sing in church,
it helps us to be reverent and helps us to remember the Savior.
So music can be very beneficial for our bodies.
The next thing I'm going to do is I'm going to add a little bit of blue to this soccer ball just to give it some color.
And that makes it so it still looks like it's white, but maybe that kind of represents the shadow on the ball.
And while you’re coloring this, you might think about how physical fitness can help our bodies stay healthy. Because our Savior, He wants us to be healthy because it can help us to do other things like even share the gospel. Because when our bodies are healthy, then we can do more, We can do more for Him, we can help other people.
We have the ability to become more and more like the Savior.
The next thing I want to color is I want to color this bar of soap.
And you can color this soap whatever color you like. I want to use this purple here, I think this will be fun. And just color this all in. And while we’re coloring this,
we can think about how important is for us to keep our bodies clean.
Because when our bodies are clean, we stay healthy.
All right. So now I’m going to, I think I want to color these bubbles pink just for fun.
But you can color yours however you like. And maybe I don’t color the all the bubble in, Maybe I leave some white in there because they are kind of clear.
I would love to see how you color yours.
The next thing we can do to keep our bodies healthy is to eat food that's good for us. Food gives us energy
and allows us to be able to do other things, like even play soccer.
So we really, really need to eat food, especially good, healthy food.
So you could draw a picture of your favorite vegetable or you could draw this carrot if you like.
So I have this orange carrot here, and then I'm going to color the top part of it green.
All the carrots I’ve seen have green tops on them, so that’s the color I’m going to put here, but you can do whatever colors you like. Maybe you don't even have a green marker, so you could do blue or something else. And that's just fine too. Artists do all kinds of different colors because you get to experiment and try and do your own things. All right, so now I'm going to color this pencil.
And I'm just going to pick this golden color right here and color that in.
This pencil represents
our ability to learn. We can write.
We can keep journals, just like the prophets did in the Scriptures.
And learning, is really good for us. It’s how we learn to know more things and, and we can learn more about the Savior through writing and through reading.
All these things are very beneficial for us.
And then I'm going to do some silver right here. All right.
So those are my finished pictures.
I'd love to see some of the stuff that you guys have made.
You can see how all these drawings look different, different colors were used. I like for physical activity, this person they drew a guy with some muscles. There's all kinds of ways we can get exercise.
There's a whole variety of different types of carrots here. Or you could have the pencil drawing different things. You can see there’s a start and a finish here, I think that's really fun. Or you could even draw a picture of something that you like on here.
All of these pictures show different ways that we can take care of our bodies to stay healthy. And as it says in the Bible, that our Savior, He does want us to keep our bodies clean and holy, just like the temple. And just like we take care of the temple,
we want to take care of our bodies.
I had a lot of fun drawing with you guys today. I'll see you next time. Bye.
