Hi, friends. Today we’re going to be talking about gratitude, and we're going to make a flower bouquet to give to someone we're grateful for. Let's get started.
For today’s activity, Joshua and Mosiah are going to help me make a flower bouquet that we can give to someone we're grateful for. So we're going to use green paper for the stems. And you can choose whatever colors you want for the flowers. We have blue and yellow and orange. Perfect. And then we're going to choose another color to make a triangle to hold the flowers in. So the first step, the first thing I’m going to do, is draw the outline of a flower with one of our markers.
I'm going to draw a tulip by drawing a half circle
and then draw down diagonally and just make three little bumps. But you can't go wrong. Make the flower however you want. Oh, I love it. Joshua’s doing a lot of bumps. Why did you choose red, Mosiah?
Because that’s my second favorite color. Red’s your second favorite color? Perfect. Now I'm just going to cut out the outline of my flower. Just cut along the lines. The Apostle Paul in the Bible taught, in everything give thanks. We have so many things to be grateful for.
Joshua, what are some of the things you're grateful for? I'm grateful for scientists.
For scientists? That's a great answer. Yeah.
Scientists help improve our lives a lot. Mosiah, what are you grateful for? School. School. Another great answer.
I’m grateful for school too. Mosiah, why are you grateful for school? Because it's a good way to learn. Yeah, and learning is important.
Joshua is still working on cutting out his flour on the yellow paper. Why did you choose yellow, Joshua?
It's one of my favorite colors. That's awesome. I love yellow too. I have a lot of favorite colors. Why are you grateful for scientists, Joshua? Because they made it easier to travel.
Yes, that's true. Great answer. What are some ways we can show gratitude? What we’re doing right now. Yeah, what we're doing right now. Making something to give to someone.
We can
give them presents.
Give them presents? Yeah. We can also just say thank you. And we also can say thank you to Heavenly Father when we pray. Okay. After your flower’s cut out,
we're going to cut just a straight line for the stem. Just a little rectangle.
Perfect. It looks like Mosiah is ready. The next step is we’re going to glue our stem to our flower.
So I'm just going to put a little bit of glue on the end of my stem
and press it on there.
The next thing I'm going to do is make a holder for the bouquet. So I'm just going to cut out a little triangle.
I'll just outline it with blue.
I'll just cut that out.
I’m so grateful for Jesus and what He’s done for us.
Gratitude makes me happier when I think about all the things I'm grateful for,
because sometimes it's really easy to think about what things I wish were different. But when I think about what makes me happy,
I’m happier. The Apostle Paul in the Bible taught, in everything give thanks. That’s just a happy way to be.
Now we're going to combine our flowers to put it in our little bouquet holder. So we're just going to put some glue.
You can either put glue on the bouquet holder or on your stem.
I'm just going to glue it down. Okay,
perfect. And flip it around so that this side will be facing out. Perfect. Yeah.
Good job, Mosiah. Okay,
perfect. Awesome. So after you make some flowers and cut out a triangle for a bouquet holder, you'll have a beautiful bouquet to give to someone you're grateful for. I hope you enjoyed today's activity. And I hope you'll join us next time you can find more activities in The Friend magazine. See you later, friends.
