Hi, friends. Today we're going to be talking about how Jesus is our good shepherd. We're going to be making these fun little sheep masks.

All you're going to need is some cotton balls, some paper plates, scissors, and glue. Let’s get started.

For today’s activity, we’re going to be making sheep masks. So what we're going to need is paper plates. So each of you take a paper plate, and we’re going to be cutting a circle out of the middle. And the easiest way to do that is to fold it, and then we'll just start cutting along here. Does that make sense? Yeah.

Okay. Go ahead. There's already kind of a line on the paper plate that you can cut along.

When Jesus was born, shepherds came to worship Him.

After Jesus was resurrected, the Apostle Peter from the Bible taught that Jesus is our shepherd and will lead us to eternal life. What are some ways that you follow Jesus?

You could pray. You could read the scriptures.

Great answers.

And also you can get baptized. Yeah. That’s a really important way we follow Jesus.

Now, don't throw away this part. We're going to use this middle circle for the ears. So you should have a rim and you should have the middle circle. So we're just going to cut this right in half and use it for our sheep ears.

Yeah. And you already kind of have a fold in the middle from folding it in half.

Perfect. So now we have two sheep ears and we're going to go ahead and glue those on our rim. So take your glue sticks

and you can either glue the ear first or you can just glue the plate directly.

Perfect. Yeah, get lots of glue.

Do you guys know how the shepherds knew how to follow Jesus? How to find Him?

Follow the stars.

That's a good idea.

Um. By doing the right thing. Yeah.

Great answers. An angel appeared to them and told them where to find Jesus.

Perfect. You have your ears glued on. Yeah. That's great. You can glue it on the front or the back.

You can use these when your family reads the Nativity story, if that's something you do as a family. Okay. And then the last step of our activity, we're going to glue cotton balls along the side to make it fluffy like a sheep. If you don't have cotton balls, you could use popcorn or marshmallows or tissues or anything you have on hand.

Get lots of glue.

Perfect. Well done, Victor.

Yeah. Press those on.

I love it, Demi.

Have you ever seen a real sheep? Yes. Yeah. Where did you see it? Farm.

A farm? Yeah. I actually raised a sheep once, and I walked it every day.

My sheep was named Sherman.

I love how fluffy and soft this is going to be.

So we talked about how the Apostle Peter taught that Jesus is our good shepherd because He leads us to do the right thing.

What other ways could Jesus be like a shepherd to us?

By telling us what to be.

Yeah. Yeah.

Helping us know what to do. That's really important.

He also provides protection for us, which shepherds protect their sheep.

And we can follow Jesus like the sheep follow their shepherd because they trust their shepherd.

One way that Jesus has been a shepherd for me is comforting me when I've been scared. I used to get really bad nightmares, and it would even scare me to go to sleep. But when I would pray and think about Jesus, He would comfort me and I knew I was safe.

It might take a minute to glue all your fluff on, but the more the merrier.

Another way Jesus has been a shepherd to me is when I don't know where to go and I feel lost when I don't know what choice I should make, He helps me know what to do because He’s given us the commandments and He’s also given us the Holy Ghost, which can help us know what choice we should make. Let’s show them our masks.

I love them. Baaah!

like the shepherds from the Christmas story, we can follow. Jesus.

I hope you enjoyed today's activity.

You can find more activities in The Friend magazine. I hope you'll join us next time. Bye, friends.
