You ready to practice free throws? So Coach Miller will stop yelling at us.

Whoa. Yikes.

It looks like a moose took a nap on your head.

Ugh, I pulled an all-nighter trying to get my robot working for the science club competition, but nothing I did would make it work. What's wrong with it? The pneumatic air piston has a pressure leak, and the actuation lever will not toggle its full motion.

Oh, yeah, that's just the worst. Actually, I have no idea what you're talking about.

You're the smartest kid out of all of us. So if you can't fix it, I don't know what to tell you.

Wait! I just thought of what could help! Really? Write this down. Okay. Okay.

For a pressure leak, take your robot and hold it like this at a 90 degree angle from you. And then drop, kick it into the trash so you can come to the park with us. I can’t. Coach will know if you didn’t practice. We’re just trying to save you from running a thousand wind sprints. Thanks, guys, but maybe tomorrow. All right. See you. See you, Travis.

It’s getting late. Has Travis come back from shooting hoops?

Huh? Yeah. Yeah. He never went.

What? Why?

His robot broke. He said he has to fix it for the science competition.

It’s not for three more weeks. And he said if I bothered him one more time,

he would program his robot to give me a knuckle sandwich.

Hi-yah!

I never had a knuckle sandwich. Do they taste very good?

No. You wouldn't like them at all.

Why won’t you work, you malfunctioning bag of bolts! I’ll melt you down and make you aluminum foil.

Knock, knock.

I have to get this working before the competition, but I can't get the actuator to actually actuate.

Son, you’re hyper-focusing on just one thing, and that doesn’t always work out.

What do you mean? Sorry, my crying got on your shirt.

Think of our lives as being made up of four parts: spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual.

If we focus too much on one part, we may miss out on learning important stuff from the other parts.

Let me see that. Let's say this is you and there are four directions you can move in to keep those parts balanced.

Now we know that scripture study is good for us, but what if that's all we did?

Jesus didn't just read scriptures all the time. He learned how to talk to people, to teach and serve them, and may have even built things as a carpenter. And he walked everywhere. Yeah, he got all sorts of exercise.

So if we only stay in this one part, our life isn't balanced and we miss out on things that can make us happy and more like Jesus Christ.

But if you move in all four directions— the spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual—

you'll give attention to what your soul needs and find greater joy.

Then I'll just keep my life perfectly balanced.

Well, it's pretty hard to do.

Sometimes we need to spend more time in one part than the other, as life requires.

Take Alicia, for example. What did she do all last week?

I don't know. She was never around.

Exactly. She spent most of her time with her friends and pushed off studying for her test. Now she's cramming for finals and has been stuck in her room for days.

Right, hon.

My eyes are going to fall out onto the floor.

What's important is that we're making an effort to develop all four parts because the more we can do what Heavenly Father knows is best for us, the happier we’ll be.

And the Spirit can give me thoughts and ideas of what to work on.

All right, Dad.

Well, what now?

I don't know. I'll probably just go organize my sock drawer.

I'm thinking a little exercise might be what you need, like practicing those free throws you pushed off.

It's too dark.

It doesn't look too dark to me.

Huh?

Almost.

Follow through on this next one.

Got it.
