Today we're going to play a game
about ordinances of the gospel.
What is an ordinance? An ordinance is
a sacred ceremony that members of the Church do to help us come
closer to Heavenly Father.
We also make special covenants
or promises with God
as we participate in priesthood
ordinances.
This game will help us learn
more about ordinances.
I'll give you a clue and then you
point at the right picture.
Can you find a picture of an ordinance
that we can perform each Sunday?
It includes eating something
and drinking something.
Did you point to this picture of
the sacrament? That’s right!
Each week we partake of the bread
and water. We remember Jesus.
We remember that Jesus Christ
atoned for our sins. And we can be forgiven of our mistakes.
Can you find a picture of an ordinance
that takes place in water?
Did you point to this picture
of baptism? That’s right!
When a person gets baptized,
a priesthood holder says a prayer and then helps the
person getting baptized go under the water and come back up again.
When we're baptized, we make a promise
that we will follow Jesus Christ.
There’s a special building where a very
special ordinance takes place—
a sealing or a marriage. Can you point
to the building where that takes place?
Did you point to the temple?
That’s right!
The sealing ceremony in the temple is an ordinance that helps families
be together forever.
Are you ready for another one?
Can you point to a picture
of an ordinance where a boy is being ordained to the
priesthood? After he receives the priesthood, this deacon will
be able to pass the sacrament.
Today we’ve learned about ordinances.
As we just talked about, baptism is an ordinance. Children can be
baptized once they are eight years old or older. Have you been baptized?
You can prepare to be baptized by
learning about Jesus Christ and trying to be the kind of person that
He would like you to be: One who loves and serves others.
Try to do your best by following God's
commandments. See you next time.
