Hello, I’m Michelle, and I’m here to tell Sunday School teachers about some important changes coming to “Come, Follow Me” in 2024. First, I want to thank you for everything you do to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and build faith in Him.

Please know your efforts are making a difference. As you probably know, in the past you’ve had one “Come, Follow Me” manual to help you prepare to teach Sunday School and another one to help you study the scriptures at home.

Well, now these two resources are being combined into one: “Come, Follow Me for Home and Church.”

In other words, the manual you and your class members use for personal and family scripture study is the same one you use to prepare to teach Sunday School. Now, you might be wondering, How can I teach people who have the same manual as I do? I won't have anything new to tell them.

Just remember that teaching doesn't necessarily mean giving us new information. Gospel learning is home- centered and church-supported, so consider how you can support, encourage, and inspire us to study the scriptures at home.

A simple way to do this is to ask a question like, What has the Holy Ghost taught you this week as you studied the Book of Mormon?

Then you could invite discussion based on the study suggestions in “Come, Follow Me.” You’ll find these suggestions in the section titled “Ideas for Learning at Home and at Church.” For example, say you’re studying Alma 36 and Come, Follow Me suggests making a list of phrases in that chapter that teach about the Savior’s role in repentance. In Sunday School, invite class members to talk about the phrases they found or if they haven't done it yet, spend some time studying the scriptures together and make the list together as a class. Or maybe there was a question in Come, Follow Me that really helped you ponder the scriptures. Consider writing it on the board.

Invite the class to ponder it and share their thoughts. This is a great way to invite the Spirit and help us learn from each other, all while supporting home-centered learning.

Think of the blessings that will come as we study the Book of Mormon together next year using the same Come, Follow Me resource as a guide.

Our faith in Jesus Christ will deepen and expand as we feast on the Book of Mormon's powerful witness of him.

Thank you so much for being a Sunday School teacher. We'll see you on Sunday.
