Return to Jerusalem.
Journey for the brass plates.
Lehi and Sariah’s family
traveled in the wilderness.
In a dream, the Lord told Lehi about
scriptures written on brass plates.
A man named Laban had them in Jerusalem.
The Lord said Lehi’s family needed to
take the brass plates with them on their journey. The Lord told Lehi to
send his sons back to Jerusalem to get the brass plates.
Nephi’s brothers complained.
They told Lehi it was a hard thing
to do. They did not want to go.
It was a very hard thing to
do, but Nephi wanted to obey.
He knew the Lord would
help him and his brothers.
Nephi told Lehi that he would go back
to Jerusalem and get the brass plates.
Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi went
back to Jerusalem. When they got there,
they decided that Laman would
go to Laban’s house and ask for the brass plates. When Laman
asked for the brass plates, Laban called him a robber.
Laban said he would kill Laman.
Laman ran away and told
his brothers what happened.
The four brothers were sad.
Laman, Lemuel, and Sam wanted to go
back to their parents in the wilderness, but Nephi had an idea. He said they
could make a trade with Laban to get the brass plates. They went back to
their home in the city and got all their gold and silver to trade.
When they showed the gold and
silver to Laban, he wanted all of it.
But he still would not
give them the brass plates. Instead, he told his
servants to kill the brothers so he could take their gold and silver.
The four brothers ran for their lives
and left their gold and silver behind.
Laban’s servants could not catch
them. The brothers hid in a cave.
After all these hard things, Laman
and Lemuel were mad at Nephi.
They hit Nephi and Sam with a stick.
Suddenly, an angel came and
asked why they were hitting Nephi.
The angel said that Nephi
was chosen to lead them.
Then the angel told them
to go back to Jerusalem. The Lord would prepare a way
for them to get the brass plates.
