Alma and Korihor Faith that God is real

A man named Korihor came to the land of Zarahemla.

He told people that God and Jesus Christ are not real.

Korihor said people could only know something if they saw it.

He made fun of people who believed in Jesus.

Korihor said people did not need God’s commandments.

He said people could do anything they wanted. Many people believed him.

They decided to do bad things.

Korihor tried to teach the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, but they did not believe him. They tied him up and sent him away.

He went to the land of Gideon instead. The people there also tied him up. They sent him to Alma. Korihor told Alma that God is not real.

He said Alma and the other priests were lying to the people.

Korihor said they were making the people follow silly traditions.

He also said they were taking money from the people.

Alma knew this was not true. He believed in God and Jesus.

Alma said the prophets and everything on earth help people know that God is real. Korihor wanted more proof.

Alma said he would give Korihor proof. He said that God would make Korihor unable to talk.

As soon as Alma said this, Korihor could not talk.

Korihor wrote that he knew God is real. He had always known.

He wrote that the devil had tricked him.

The devil told Korihor to teach lies about God and Jesus. When the people learned the truth about Korihor,

they did not believe his teachings.

They repented and began to follow Jesus again.
