A Nephite Maidservant Helping to protect her people

A maidservant worked for a Nephite leader named Morianton.

Morianton was causing trouble among the people.

He attacked a group of Nephites and tried to take their land.

Then he planned to travel north with his people to take land there.

One day, Morianton became angry with the maidservant.

He treated her very badly and hurt her.

The maidservant escaped and ran to Captain Moroni’s camp.

She told Moroni about the bad things Morianton did. Moroni believed her.

The maidservant also said that Morianton wanted to leave and take over the land to the north. Moroni was worried.

The Nephites could be in danger if Morianton took over the land in the north. It could cause the people to lose their freedom.

Moroni sent an army to stop Morianton.

Morianton’s people fought the army and lost.

They promised to be peaceful and returned to their land. Because the maidservant warned Moroni, the Nephite cities stayed safe.
