After baptism, we’re given a majestic yet practical gift—the gift of the Holy Ghost. As we strive to stay on the covenant path, it’s the Holy Ghost that will show us all things that we should do.

Revelations are conveyed in a variety of ways, including, for example, dreams, visions, conversations with heavenly messengers, and inspiration.

Some revelations are received immediately and intensely.

Some are recognized gradually and subtly. We should recognize that personal revelation may be received line upon line and precept upon precept,

that revealed direction can be, and frequently is, incremental. Such communications from Heavenly Father gradually and gently distill upon our souls as the dews from heaven.

This pattern of revelation tends to be more common than rare. When we’re unsure or uneasy, we can ask God for help.

The Savior’s promise could not be clearer: “Ask, and it shall be given

you; for every one that asketh receiveth.” Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will grow into the principle of revelation. The more you act, the more familiar the voice of the Spirit becomes.

You will increasingly recognize God's guidance and that He is willing to reveal His mind and will.

If you delay, you might forget the prompting or miss the chance to help someone for God.

To be sure, there may be times when you feel as though the heavens are closed.

But I promise that as you continue to be obedient, you will be given the knowledge and understanding you seek.

Does God really want to speak to you? Yes.
