Latter-day Saints, as with other followers of Jesus Christ, are always looking for ways to help, to lift, and to love others. They who are willing to be called the Lord's people are willing to bear one another's burdens, to mourn with those that mourn, and to comfort those that stand in need of comfort.

It means staying with something and doing all that we can, working, hoping, and exercising faith, bearing hardship with fortitude.

Can you think back on a time when you lovingly reached out with sincere effort to help someone in need and felt that your efforts went unnoticed, or perhaps were unappreciated? Rather than building resentment, we can build through service a more perfect relationship with our Heavenly Father. You will feel the love of God for you and for the person you serve for Him. As you help children of God in their troubles, your own troubles will seem lighter. Your faith and your hope will be strengthened. As we choose to be kind, caring, generous, patient, accepting, forgiving, inclusive, and selfless, we discover we are abounding in charity. Brigham Young taught, “I wish to urge upon the saints to understand men and women as they are, and not understand them as you are. Do not judge such persons, for you do not know the design of the Lord concerning them.

Rather, bear with them.” The Savior's mission has always and forever been to serve His Father by saving His children.

And the surest way to find joy in this life is to join Christ in helping others. Even in our busy lives, we can follow the example of Jesus and see individuals, their needs, their faith, their struggle, and who they can become. Use your voice and your power to articulate what you know and feel on social media in quiet conversations with your friends, when you’re chatting with your grandchildren, tell them why you believe and what it feels like, and if you ever doubted, and how you got through it, and what Jesus Christ means to you.

Our life journeys are individual, but we can come again to God our Father and His Beloved Son through trusting God, each other, and ourselves. Giving help to others, making a conscientious effort to care about others as much or more than we care about ourselves is our joy.

Assist Them throughout Their Journey
