I grew up in the Church, very active family. I had three brothers that went on a mission,

and I was the one child that chose not to go on a mission. And over the next 30 years,

I really became critical of members of the Church,

and I struggled with things that they were doing. I had an elders quorum president who became a friend of mine, through contact in the neighborhood that would stop by and created a friendship.

He would check on me, he would send me text messages. He would stop me anytime he saw me driving, driving by, to see how I was doing.

Scott actually came to me and asked me if he could

see if I would come back to church. I still wasn't ready and I looked him straight in the face and

I told him no, but I told him I was getting close

and he accepted that, and it didn't alter our friendship. He still kept in contact. He would send me text messages. He would call me, check on me.

But shortly after that, my dad had passed and, I had went to his gravesite and I said a prayer. And I have not said a prayer in over 30 years. And I had asked for guidance and the guidance,

I think, was for Scott to help me come back to the Church. I actually got dressed up in a suit and texted him one Sunday and said, “Did you feel the building shake?” And he knew exactly what I meant. He replied back, “Brother, the front pew in front of me is opened.” And I went up there and I sat next to his family through that sacrament service and then started attending church. And it was so comforting to to know that I had the support and the love, not just from him, but the members of the ward. And it was just a loving experience. I have now my endowment I have now married in the temple,

been active ever since and Scott has literally changed my life.
