The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square present Music and the Spoken Word. This is not an easy thing for me, and yet at the same time, it’s a happy thing because change is part of life. [CHOIR SINGING WITH ORCHESTRA PLAYING]

When I think about 95 years of continuous weekly broadcasting and that I've been so blessed, so favored, so honored to have been a part of it for all these many years, I just feel nothing but gratitude and humility and really a deep sense of appreciation for this honor. Lloyd Newell has written and delivered on television and radio

by my count, 1752 digestible sermons and insights over 34, almost 35 years. I think this clearly qualifies Lloyd Newell as one of the most prolific and influential contributors of inspirational literature in the history of modern media.

I've spent the last 20 years as an entrepreneur running two different businesses. I live here in Utah, locally of course, and have, together with my wife, we have six children. We live in Bountiful.

This came as a complete shock and surprise to us when we received this invitation from President Nelson to serve in this way and manner.

Most of the letters I've received from people over the years have been from people who are not of our faith, who love the choir and the broadcast. And this is their weekly inspirational spiritual uplift.

So in a sense, our assignment is changing, but we're still doing missionary work.

I realized that so much of my time spent as an entrepreneur has prepared me for this very moment. An entrepreneur solves problems and seeks to look at the world through different sets of lenses based on the situations that they’re encountering.

I've taken a very keen interest in improving my writing, and did that through just little notes made in my phone at the end of every day. Many of those notes turned into messages that I might give in church, serving as a bishop in my local congregation,

and have now today fed into what I believe has been preparing me along the way to hopefully expand upon those writing skills more than ever before.
