There's no better run welfare program than The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Welcome. Carol Miller. Nice to be with you.

We have so many good best practices here that

the Church of Jesus Christ uses that I wanted some of my colleagues that deal with this directly in our federal government to be able to see how well it works.

We invited them all into Welfare Square and to the Bishop's storehouse. There's the picture of the Savior extending His hand down to helping that needy person. That is the inspiration behind everything we're doing.

We'll send out food boxes, cleaning kits, chainsaws, work gloves.

Well, this was really impressive. I really enjoyed it. It's great how they're helping so many people, not just here in Utah, but across the country and the world. We in government always try to figure out how we can solve those problems and help people. But honestly, the nonprofit organizations, the churches, they do it so much better. And we need to work more with organizations and our churches to help fill the needs of our fellow individuals.

We're disciples. We're followers of Jesus Christ, and that transcended whatever religion they may be part of or not. And I think it kind of gave us all a common purpose today. So it was a very positive experience.
