[SINGING IN SPANISH]

The second group of sacred music for the new hymn book,

Hymns for Home and Church, is now available.

[SINGING IN FRENCH]

There are nine new hymns adding to the 13

released in May 2024 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I don’t think that there’s anything like music that can bring a congregation together, all of us singing new music that we aren’t really acquainted with and going through that journey and that discovery together, it's just very unifying.

♪ Gethsemane! Jesus loves me, ♪

I have felt the excitement from the congregation as we've been able to sing them. But for me personally, I’ve been able to experience the power of the Spirit as we know that these were chosen specifically for our day.

I have loved watching the Saints sing these first hymns that have been released. They've become much closer to God as they sing them. ♪ Amazing grace, how sweet the sound. ♪

Amazing Grace, the ever popular Christian hymn, is one of the new hymns.

Amazing Grace, My Shepherd Will Supply My Need, and other hymns included in this and other future releases, as well as many hymns already included in the current hymn book,

are not original Latter-day Saint hymns, but popular across Christianity.

♪ Now I see. ♪

Called to Serve or I Need Thee Every Hour, Praise to the Lord the Almighty, I Stand All Amazed—I think people are surprised to know that those were not written by people of our faith. And so we’ve used borrowed hymns from the very beginning of the Church and will continue to do so.

And I think that's an important recognition that God inspires people of all faiths and traditions to write music that praises His name. Since the organization of the Church in 1830,

Latter-day Saints have enjoyed singing hymns from other faiths. Similarly, the Church is open to sharing its own original, Christ-focused hymns with the rest of the Christian world. These new hymns are designed to help us worship God. They are designed to bring us peace and hope and joy. And I look forward to people of all faiths hearing this music so that as we all sing together, we are all united in our love of God

and of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. One example included in this second batch is Come Lord Jesus,

a well-loved Latterday Saint hymn from the musical production Savior of the World. ♪ Come, Lord Jesus, to the manger. ♪

♪ May we see Thy tender face. ♪

Come, Lord Jesus is a prayer. It's a worshipful song to celebrate the coming of Christ to the world. As we sing it, we’re anticipating His Second Coming. We look forward to the day when Jesus Christ will come. The next group of hymns will be released in early 2025, and will continue rolling out every few months until the printed hymn book is released in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French in the next few years.
