Abide in Me, O Love of God, Abide!

Abide in me, O love of God, Abide!

Thy sweet and present goodness be my guide

To know and name the best in me,

And fill my frame with majesty.

Forsaking all, I come to Thee:

O love of God, abide!

Require of me, O love of God! Require

My heart be changed with Thy consuming fire!

All small and willful wants replace;

Remake my soul with gentle grace;

Confirm my heart Thy holy place!

O love of God, require!

Remain with me, O love of God! Remain

A charity that cannot be contained.

That I may know the heart of God,

Teach me to love as I am loved

And shed His holy light abroad!
