Every Time I Read

Every Time I Read

Solos to Sing, Submitted Music (2007-2011)

In the early light of morning, when the world is hushed and still,

Then I contemplate the new day and I yearn to know God’s will.

Where would He have me go today? What would He have me be?

I open up the scriptures so He can speak to me.

As the ever pressing honors seem to rush me through the day,

When I struggle through affliction, or I fear I’ve lost my way,

How can I know I’m not a lone? How shall I know He cares?

I read the holy scriptures and feel his presence there

I read and I study, I ponder and pray, I search for the message meant for me today,

Then softly the spirit speaks the answers that I need.

My fears are stilled; my soul is filled every time I read.

When another day is over, and there’s finally time to breathe,

I recall God’s tender mercies and all that He has done for me.

My life already overflows with blessings from above,

Yet when I read the scriptures, I am encircled in His love.

I read and I study, I ponder and pray, I search for the message meant for me today,

Then softly the spirit speaks the answers that I need.

My fears are stilled; my soul is filled every time I read.
