I Hope They Call Me on a Mission (Spragg)

I Hope They Call Me on a Mission (Spragg)

Music for Choirs, Submitted Music (1998-2006)

Narration:  Simple things cultivate a child’s desire to serve a mission:  Sharing a meal with the missionaries; an older brother’s example; a special mission bank; a service project with the elders that ends in a water fight; a Primary song…

I hope they call me on a mission when I have grown a foot or two.

I hope by then I will be ready to work and teach and serve as missionaries do.

Narration:  How quickly those little ones grow, and with that growth comes responsibility,

the first steps out into the world, and glimpse of the magnitude of gospel blessings.

Through humble prayer & scripture study I’ve learned to put my trust in God.

I’ve seen the joy that comes to others who work and pray and hold fast to the iron rod.

Narration:  The day of decision is at hand.  Comitment is made.  Papers are filled out and sent in.

[silence, & pause]  The waiting begins…

I know the work will not be easy, and days will often seem to plod.

But I will be a missionary.  I’ll feel the peace and joy that come from pleasing God.

I’m ready now to teach the gospel to those who hunger for the truth.

I want to share my testimony, and serve the Lord and man while I am in my youth.

Narration:  Missionaries transform many lives, both at home and in the field, but the change from child to servant of God must come first.  That mighty change starts with simple things, like a Primary song.

I hope they call me on a mission.
