In Silent Awe (Pearson)

In Silent Awe (Pearson)

Submitted Hymn Texts, Submitted Music (1998-2006)

In silent awe the angels watched

And held their breath as one

While men drown nails through Jesus’ hands

To crucify God’s Son

As demons mocked His pow’r to save

And men defiled their king,

The angel legions gathered round

To worship him, unseen.

In silent awe creation paused

To hear the Savior’s word

While men gave Jesus gall to drink

And stripped and beat their Lord.

Earth trembled at the Savior’s pain.

The sun in shame withdrew

But Jesus softly said, “Forgive…

they know not what they do.”

In silent awe the Father watched

His blessed Son atone.

Though God could stop the suffering

Christ bore the cross alone.

The tears streamed down the Father’s face;

Blood poured from Jesus’ side.

God watched as justice turned to grace

When Jesus meekly died.

In silent awe we humbly bow

Before the Lord this day.

We each renew our covenant

To serve Him and obey.

With bread we ponder Jesus’ word,

With drink the sacrifice,

And reverence oru Savior for

His gift, eternal life.
