There was Light, holy light
In the eyes of the Child born in Bethlehem,
On that night, silent night long ago
When the Lord was revealed to men;

While the world watched in silence this most wondrous event,
This is love, surely God’s greatest gift
To His children upon the earth

Through Christ’s lowly birth.

There was hope, promised Hope
Born that night in the stable in Bethlehem.
In that Life, god provided the way
For each soul to return to Him.
When the star so bright on that blessed night
Led three kings on a journey t’ward that Heavenly Light.
