Mighty Father, King of Heaven (Dickson)
Submitted Hymn Texts, Submitted Music (1992-1997)
Mighty Father, King of Heaven,
Builder of the sun and stars,
Wilt thou listen to my pleading,
As I bleed with wounds and scars?
Pains and torments scourge me daily;
Guilt and grief oppress my soul;
Wilt thou touch my anguished spirit:
Heal, caress, and make me whole?
Oh that righteousness would lift me;
Oh that I might cleanse my guilt:
Walk in perfectness before thee,
Doing ever as thou wilt!
Do I hear thy whisper, Father?
Sayest thou, “There is a way!
Jesus Christ, the only Savior,
He can heal thy soul this day?
Bow the knee—accept thy Savior:
Follow him from cross to crown!:
He, the glowing torch and beacon,
Leads from grief to glad renown!
Touch his hem in meek submission:
His caress can make thee whole;
He, the great Physician, Healer,
Cures the sickness of thy soul!”
