Morning Prayer (Smith)

Morning Prayer (Smith)

Submitted Hymn Texts, Submitted Music (1992-1997)

I thank Thee, Lord, for having blessed

The night-time with a peaceful rest;

As I go forth with this new day,

Bless what I do, bless what I say.

Give me the strength to do my part

To serve with pure and willing heart;

With quiet and unspoken deed

Fulfill another’s hidden need.

Lord, bless my spirit to be strong,

Place on my lips, a happy song;

Then guide my path that I may stay

Far from the tempter’s cunning way.

When day is done, these hours spent,

I’ll seek my rest, at peace, content

To kneel before Thy holy feet,

As once again in prayer we meet.
