My One Sure Anchor Is Christ
Music for Women, Music for Youth, Submitted Music (2012-present)
There’s a sea that’s surrounded by towering hills
In the midst of a holy land
Where many a trav’ler has sailed on its waves
And walked on its ancient sands.
Long ago a small crew set sail from its banks
Without knowing what might lay in store
For each of their lives would be altered that day
By the time they returned to the shore.
Suddenly a cold wind came down from the hills
Causing fierce waves that struck them with fear.
The thunder and lightning a midst blackened clouds
Convinced those in the boat death was near.
They awakened the Master and sought for his aid.
He arose and rebuked the wind
The spoke to the sea, saying, “Peace, be still.”
And the waters grew calm again.
I may not have the faith to move mountains
Or the power to still raging seas
But I know who to put all my trust in
When I’, tossed on the angry deep.
Though He may not spare me from the lightning
And the storms may rage on through the night
I know in the end that all will be well
For my one sure anchor is Christ
Like that boat on the sea I am sometimes tossed
By the storms of this life raging ‘round.
And when dark clouds of sadness hang over my head
I wonder when peace will be found.
But I know if I call on the Master for help
He can calm ev’ry tempest in me.
He will give me the strength to face any trial
If I but have faith to believe.
I may not have faith to move mountains
Or the power to still raging seas
But I know who to put all my trust in
When I’m tossed on the angry deep.
Though He may not spare me from the lightning
And the storms may rage on through the night
I know in the end that all will be well
For my one sure anchor is Christ.
