Prepare Us for the Sacrament (Reiser)

Prepare Us for the Sacrament (Reiser)

Music for Choirs, Submitted Music (1998-2006)

As we prepare this sacred hour the emblems to receive—

Of Thy atoning sacrifice for all who would believe,

Help clear our minds of worldly cares as we commune with Thee

While we recall thy previous gifts offer’d so unselfishly

I sense the taunting of the crowd, I taste the bitter gall—

They knew not that this King of Kings would die to save us all

I feel the crown of vicious thorns, the spear thrust in Thy side

I feel the nails through bone and flesh. Thou in pain and suff’ring died.

O, Savior dear, Thy matchless love for us we’ll not forget

If we should labor all our days, we’d ne’er repay the debt

We’ll follow Thee and do Thy will and of our sins repent

Now let Thy Spirit dwell with us as we take the sacrament.
