See the Mighty Mount of Zion (Smith)

See the Mighty Mount of Zion (Smith)

Submitted Hymn Texts, Submitted Music (1992-1997)

See the mighty mount of Zion, see the city’s templed hill;

Joseph’s bough and Judah’s lion, gathered by Jehovah’s will.

Now behold, her gates are open; kindreds, tongues and nations flow

As Isaiah once in vision saw the latter-kingdom grow.

Come, perform the work of Zion, strengthen all her stakes abroad,

Stretching far the spacious curtain ‘round the house of Jacob’s God:

Come, O chosen generation, raise the banner high above;

Royal priesthood, holy nation, come, obey the Lord in love.

Once the Lord removed His Zion, Enoch’s hot He led away.

Once a stranger, once a pilgrim, Israel wandered day by day;

See the city of their seeking, built upon foundations sure,

With a cornerstone unyielding: Christ forever shall endure.

Come then, give thine all for Zion, come with joyful heart and mind.

Give the talent long kept hidden; hidden stores of strength we’ll find.

Come, partake of heaven’s manna, come, embrace the mighty throng!

Shout with all thy soul, Hosanna! Sing salvation’s joyful song!
