You heard of Joseph’s vision of scriptures etched in gold,
And in your heart you recognized the Savior’s church of old.
You felt the Holy Spirit’s power witnessing to you,
And daring to believe that it was true,
You walked away from ev’rything you knew.
Oh, my sisters of the past have led the way,
Laying a foundation for the work I do today
Oh, my sisters of the past have built a legacy to last
May I emulate my sisters of the past.
You helped to build the temples of Kirtland and Nauvoo
And through your faith and sacrifice your testimonies grew.
When angry forces drove you out you must have been afraid.
But even though you wished you could have stayed,
you bravely left the life that you had made

Now in these latter days the task I am assigned is to walk away,
Leaving Babylon behind.
