The Day of Harvest

The Day of Harvest

Solos to Sing, Submitted Music (2007-2011)

1. In the cool of the morning He goes to the well

To find those who seek employ

And those he hires to work through the day

Receive their appointment with joy.

As the sun rises higher, They may start to retire

They’re renewed in the promised reward

And the goodness of their Lord.

2. As the day wears away, He returns again;

And again to the heart of town.

He finds at each turn more souls who would earn,

And he hires them and send them down

To the field, where they share In the labors and care,

They rejoice in their work and reward

And the kindness of their Lord.

Chorus

Tis the day of harvest and I would be

A faithful servant, diligently

Serving the master, that I may receive

A fullness of His joy.

3. Now I wonder that I would identify

With those who’ve continued all day;

Do I labor encouraging others to come,

Or fear help diminishes my pay?

Do I truly believe That each may receive

As  abundant eternal reward

Through the mercies of our Lord?

4. I have come early, yet I’m coming late

To labor in Christ’s golden field;

Forgotten fragments of my soul

In idleness and sin are revealed.

Ev`ry part of my heart,

To finish, must start,

To come home to my final reward

In the kingdom of The Lord.

Chorus

5. This the day of harvest, and I would be

 A faithful servant, diligently

Serving the master, that I may receive

A fullness of His joy.
