The Gospel of our Lord was preached by them of old, in hope of God’s own Son,
That sacrifice foretold; He came ‘mid mortal men to bring them back again;
The Son of God was lifted up that He might reign.
Then after Christ had died, and justice satisfied, He rose up from the dead,
Triumphant glorified! Then wolves did enter in, the flock not spared from sin;
The Gospel light of Jesus Christ was lost again.
Now in these latter days, our God gave us His word, For through a prophet true
The gospel was restored! Has come once more to earth, the Gospel’s final birth;
For in God’s eyes all humankind His love deserves.
