My Calling as a Young Women Secretary

Young Women in the Ward

Develop a strong relationship with each young woman. Minister to each of them as the Savior would, and you will be a powerful influence for good. You will be able to help each young woman deepen her conversion to the gospel and remain faithful.

Young Women Presidency

As the Young Women secretary, you sustain the presidency by fulfilling the assignments they give you. As you counsel together with the presidency, you will gain insights and inspiration about how to meet the needs of those you serve.

Ward Clerk

You submit the Young Women quarterly attendance reports to the ward clerk. He may also provide training in your calling.

Ward Young Women Leaders

Help the presidency ensure that all Young Women leaders, advisers, and activity specialists have the resources they need to fulfill their calling. Provide ongoing support for all of those called to serve in Young Women. Help ensure that all Young Women leaders, advisers, and activity specialists are familiar with and following the Church policies and guidelines on preventing and responding to abuse.

Young Women Class Secretaries

Instruct class secretaries in fulfilling their duties to keep accurate records and support their class presidency. Support them as needed.

Parents of Young Women

“Parents have the first responsibility for the spiritual and physical welfare of their children (see D&C 68:25–28)” (Handbook 2, 10.2). Help the Young Women presidency coordinate with parents so they can support parents, not replace them. Encourage young women to talk with their parents, especially about how they can help each other keep the commandments and prepare for temple ordinances.

Primary and Relief Society Presidencies

Work with the Primary and Relief Society presidencies to ensure that the Young Women presidency is aware of young women who will be transitioning between these organizations and the Young Women organization.
