Come, Follow Me: Song of the Week

Come, Follow Me music submissions are intended to elevate the study of the Come, Follow Me scripture block. Covers should preserve the composers’ original message while providing a refreshed opportunity to learn and connect to the sacred music of the Church. The arrangements should reflect creative and authentic interpretations of the music while meeting the following criteria:

• Keep original lyrics intact.
• Keep melody intact with minimal stylistic variation.
• Keep rhythm of the original recognizable.

Additional Criteria

Must be an original work by the submitter or a named collaborator. You cannot submit a recording of music that you did not write without permission from the original artist.

Musical Styles

Music is sacred when it is composed and arranged with the intent to draw listeners to the Savior Jesus Christ and His gospel. Diversity in musical style and instrumentation is welcome and encouraged.

We also encourage submitters to be sensitive to the sacred nature of the doctrines and themes included in the music. Regardless of the chosen musical style, submitters will specifically want to consider using conservative tempos, beats, and performance approaches, and avoid anything jarring when the lyrics:

• Emphasize the Savior and His acts.
• Address Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ.
• Are written in the voice of the Savior.
• Focus on sacred events such as the Atonement, the First Vision, or priesthood ordinances.

Recording Guidelines

• We recommend submitting the highest quality audio available to you. As you record, consider the quality of the microphones, the balance of instruments and voices, and background noise. As you submit, select the best audio file format possible.
• Submissions may be received as either an audio (MP3) or video (MP4) submission.

• If you choose to submit a video, the focus should be on the music and its gospel message. Please consider the following requirements, each of which impacts the Church’s ability to share your submission:

  • The video should be of your cover performance. Music videos where the music is only background are discouraged.
  • Performers should avoid extremes in grooming and fashion. Clothing should be such that it would cover the temple garment.
  • For legal purposes, please make sure the video does not include any brands, logos, or artwork for which you are not the intellectual property owner.

Application Instructions

• Record your song arrangement in either an audio or video format.
• Click “Apply” to fill out the application.
• Select which song(s) you would like to submit recordings for. You may submit recordings for as many songs as you would like, including multiple arrangements of the same song.
• Attach your recording(s) to the application form.
• Name all collaborators for each song, including the arranger and all performers.
• Click “Submit” on the application. Thank you!

If your song is selected to be used for the Come, Follow Me song of the week, it will be available on the Gospel Library App and other channels for members around the world to listen to. By submitting your arrangement recording, you are agreeing that:

Your submission(s) may be republished on Church channels at the discretion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Any commercial use for this recording by the artist will be separate from the Church.

By submitting your recording, you also affirm that:

The cover performance(s) is/are original work owned by the submitter and/or a collaborator. A performance of another artist’s hymn or song arrangement without the permission of the arranger is not an original submission.
