PROJECT: Temples Around the World

FOR: The Salt Lake Temple Open House - Legacy Theater Film Project

SCOPE: This film will feature temples around the world to showcase how Houses of the Lord shine as beacons of light in each country and culture they reside in. We also want to show how temples affect the lives of members by bringing light into the lives of those who attend.

SEEKING: Adults and Youth (12 and over) with personal stories related to all aspects of the temple. All languages and ethnicities are encouraged to apply. We will film near these temples:

  • Accra
  • Alabang
  • Auckland
  • Bangkok
  • Johannesburg
  • Mexico City
  • Paris
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • Rome
  • Sapporo
  • Vancouver BC
  • Washington DC

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: Participants must be active, temple-worthy members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as endorsed by their ecclesiastical leader.

LOCATION: Near your home. If you are selected, we will travel to meet with you.
TIME COMMITMENT: Varies. We will do our best to work with your schedule. A few online meetings prior to the shoot will be arranged as well.
RATE: A small stipend will be provided for your time.

To Apply

It is important that you follow these instructions exactly and submit before the deadline.

STEP 1: Current photos

Take 4 current photos of yourself, clear in good lighting: (1) headshot; (2) profile; (3) full body front; (4) full body profile (side-view). Digital photos with your camera phone are fine.

STEP 2: Written Summary

In your application form, provide a brief written summary (less than 200 words) about yourself and your family, including hobbies and interests.

STEP 3: Introduction Video

We seek individuals who are comfortable in front of a camera. Relax and help us get a feel for your personality.

Record yourself in good lighting, speaking directly to camera.
1. Introduce yourself: full name, where you live, and the temple closest to you.
2. In less than 30 seconds, tell us about yourself and where you live, work, or go to school.
3. Take about 1-2 minutes to answer one or two of these questions:

  • Share simple ways in which the temple has increased light in your life.
  • Share an inspiring experience relating to the temple.
  • How have you overcome a significant obstacle, challenge, distance, or sacrifice in order to attend the temple?
  • What was your experience attending the temple for the first time?

4. Upload your video to an online video sharing site (like YouTube) and copy the “share” URL address.
IMPORTANT: Set the privacy settings to “Unlisted” (not “Private”) or “Anyone with a link can view,” so we’ll be able to view it without a password.
