Worldwide Devotional for Young Adults with Elder and Sister Renlund
Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Ruth L. Renlund, will speak at a Worldwide Devotional for Young Adults on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at 6 p.m. mountain standard time.
The devotional will be broadcast via satellite and online streaming.
This devotional will be a great way to invite young adults to institute, and it will also set the tone for a new institute class and a Church history experience through FamilySearch. The devotional, class, and FamilySearch experience can assist you as you and your students invite young adults to institute.
Latter-day Saint History: 1815–1846
The January 2019 devotional will be a great way to kick off the Latter-day Saint History: 1815–1846 (Religion 341) institute course. This class uses Saints: Volume 1 as part of the class materials and explores early Church history.
Church History and FamilySearch Experiences
Additionally, more of your students will be receiving names of their ancestors through FamilySearch. Some of your students have already received emails with names of their ancestors. To learn more about these FamilySearch emails and how to use them in the classroom, view this news article.
You can use these emails as a great class activity that extends beyond the classroom. This is an opportunity for young adults to explore their family history and fully engage in Church history and the gospel. As they do so, institute can become a valuable resource for them.
