Repent and Be Received with Open Arms
As He taught with the parables of the lost coin, the lost sheep, and the prodigal son (see Luke 15), the Savior is eager to forgive those who sincerely repent and desire to come unto Him. Many teachers will teach this scripture block in November. As your lesson plans allow, take time to teach and testify about the power of repentance and forgiveness. If we return to Heavenly Father by repenting and seeking forgiveness, He will rejoice and welcome us back with open arms.
Church leaders from October 2016 general conference also taught about repentance and forgiveness. Here are a few you might remember:
- “The Master Healer” by Carole M. Stephens
- “Learn from Alma and Amulek” by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
- “The Great Plan of Redemption” by Linda S. Reeves
- “Repentance: A Joyful Choice” by Elder Dale G. Renlund
Invite Students to Share
Please invite students to use social media to testify of repentance, forgiveness, and the joy that comes from being received with open arms by a loving Heavenly Father. Shareable images about repentance are available on the Seminary Facebook page and are included below.
How to Share
Invite students to consider what you have discussed in class about the Savior’s teachings on repentance and forgiveness. You and your students can share what you have learned by answering the following questions on social media:
- How do I feel when I repent?
- How does repentance bring me closer to Jesus Christ?
