The case of Sis. Brown was then laid before the meeting— sis. [Sophia] Packard objected— After many very pointed remarks concerning the necessity of acting upon the principle of forgiveness, the case was again presented upon the consideration that sis. Brown had manifested deep repentance for whatever imprudence she had been guilty of, and solicited forgiveness of the Society. Sis. A. Smith objected to her reception, on the ground that former objectors had not been satisfied—
The case of sis. Nighman [Jane Neyman],1 wishing admittance, was als[o] presented and objected.
Mrs. President said she could not urge fellowship where the sisters could not feel to fellowship— but where we cannot fellowship as a christian, we must not let the persons suffer in our midst. She then recommended old sis. [Prudence] Oakes2 3to the charity and the watch care of the Society.
Meeting adjourn’d—
