1Eleventh meeting of the
Society
Second Ward
Meeting opend with singing and prayer
Prayer by Sister Jones
P[hebe] M Wheeler rose and said that as the prest and councillors were not present and yet necessa[r]y that the Society proceed to business Councillor [Elizabeth Ann] Whitney having requested her to attend and do the best she could She desird [p. [116]] that some one might be appointed by the voice of the society to act for the present time for the Society
It was motion’d and seconded by sister Orson [Catherine] Spencer and unanimously carried thas [that] sister M. Peck act for the Society for this pressent time

Sister Peck rose said we would like to hear from the sicke poor— that our sympathies may be awaken’d for them that they may be relievd and comforted
Sister [Lydia] Granger said she had only visited a few families
Sister Huntsman said Br Levi Stalts [Stilts] family were in a suffering condition— living in the 2d Ward on La Harpe road
Sis King said she had visited the sick of 2d ward found but few suffring families
Sister Granger said the sick of th[e] 4th ward were no better their sufferings verry great
Sis Wheeler spoke of the situation of Sistr [Francis] Lew Law Who is late from New York left her funds there $300 which is due her this present season said she desired to get to New Orleans and from thence to N. York it being the voice of the first ward that Sister Emma should be cunsulted Sister [Sophia] Packard was appointed to see her
Sister Packerd rose said that she had laid her case before Sistr Emma the Prest that as she 〈Mrs Lew Law〉 was now in reduced circumstances and had money due her it was her council that the Society help her to N Orleans
