Inside front cover: Sea Gulls, painted by Jack Vigos in 1950, depicts the answer to a fervent prayer of the first pioneers in Salt Lake Valley. A horde of crickets threatened their small but essential crop, and when the Saints were unable by themselves to ward off the insects, they turned to the Lord; the answer was a huge flock of seagulls that devoured the crickets and saved the crop. The painting hangs in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.
